| Modern laboratories utilize a plethora of software solutions to deliver the analytical results to their internal or external customers. Most analytical instruments have supporting software applications associated with them. In addition, laboratory workflow tools like LIMS, electronic notebooks (ELN) or scientific data management systems (SDMS) have been available for many years. Yet few laboratories or companies have an organized plan or concerted strategy to ensure that these tools are properly implemented or integrated with one another. As a result, many laboratories do not gain the efficiency, productivity, quality and cost benefits that they should. Many LIMS are not properly implemented and often instruments are not integrated. This course is designed to provide participants with a technical understanding of LIMS and ELN products, how to justify them, and how to implement in a cost effective manner. Tools will be provided to help participants evaluate solutions or approaches in their own laboratories. Pitfalls and success stories from real world case studies will be discussed. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and current challenges in a workshop format and the key aspects of successful projects will be discussed. |
