Course Description
This course covers the basics of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). All of the components of the HPLC system from the pumps to the detectors will be discussed. Troubleshooting of potential or often seen problems will be shown, whether they are the fault of the LC system, the column, or the user. The modes of chromatography, related columns and mobile phases used for various applications will be discussed with emphasis on the reversed phase mode. Basic mobile phase, sample preparation, and column care (including protector columns) will be taught since these are critical in giving optimum method reproducibility and long column life. Attendees are invited to bring their problem methods for discussion.

Target Audience
This course is of interest to anyone who will be doing hands-on HPLC who have not used it before or are relatively new to the instrument. The course is designed to give an understanding of the basic principles of theory and operation to allow a HPLC method to be set up and used successfully. NOTE - this is a classroom setting so NO hands-on is possible.
