Abstract Content
Since 2004, the Centre d'Expertise en Analyse Environmentale du Quebec (CEAEQ) has been analysing trace metal in freshwater courses in the province of Quebec by ICP-MS (PE Elan DRC II). The analysed elements are separated in two groups: group 1 (Al, As, B, Ba, Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Sr, U, V, Zn) and group 2 (Br, I, P, Hg, Li, Pd, Pt, Si, Sn, Tl). Heavy metals are also analysed in biological material (fish, chyronomid, vegetable, plant).
The increasing demand of analysis, and in order to increase our productivity, the CEAEQ bought, in 2008, a second ICP-MS (PE Elan DRC II) coupled with a SC-FAST (ESI SC-FAST) autosampler.
The goal for the poster is to compare the analytical data obtained for the detection limits in the methods, linearity, memory effect, minimum volume needed for the analysis and throughput for each system. Two types of matrices will be compared: water (HNO3 0,2% (v/v)) and biological material (HNO3 6% (v/v): HCl 2% (v/v)).
