Overview:
This session deals with novel applications of mass spectrometry to environmental contaminants. In this session we discuss novel applications including combining immunoassay with mass spectrometry for unknown analysis, a new instrumentation, i.e. gas chromatography/quadrupole/time-of-flight mass spectrometry for unknown environmental contaminants, as well as high resolution accurate mass with liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry for unknown environmental compounds. Contaminants of concern include pharmaceuticals in wastewater and drinking water, pesticides in food, and other possible environmental endocrine disruptors.
